Here’s our take on upma, a well-known South Indian breakfast! 🇮🇳🥣 Note: Those with nut allergies can remove the peanuts.

👥 Serves 4
Ingredients
Coarse Semolina (1 cup)
Oil (4 tbsp)
Black Mustard Seeds (1 tsp)
Peanuts (1 handful)
Green Chillies (2 chopped)
Curry Leaves (6-7)
Green Peas (1/2 cup)
Water (2 1/2 cups)
Lemon Juice (1 tsp)
Salt (to taste)
Fresh Coriander (2 tbsp chopped)
Raisins or Sultanas (1 handful)
Preparation
Boil the green peas in 1 1/4 cup of water and drain once done
Method
Heat oil in a saucepan (add one mustard seed to the oil, if it cracks it is ready)
Add the remaining mustard seeds
Add curry leaves and chopped chillies then stir on low heat for 1 minute
Add peanuts and stir for 1 minute
Add semolina and stir fry on medium heat till golden brown
Add sultanas and stir for 2 minutes
Add green peas with 1/2 cup of water
Add lemon juice
Cover for 2 minutes and allow semolina to absorb the water
